The Premier League Goal of the Season is an annual football award for the player deemed to have scored the best goal in the preceding Premier League season.

The shortlist features each of the season's nine Premier League Goal of the Month winners and on occasion, such as in 2016–17, 2018–19, and 2023–24, a goal from May which does not have a monthly vote. The winner is decided by a combination of an online public vote — which contributes to 10% of the final tally — and a panel of experts.

The award was first given following the 2016–17 season.

The Premier League Goal of the Month is an association football award that recognises the player who is deemed to have scored the best Premier League goal each month of the season from August to April. The winner is chosen by a combination of an online public vote, which contributes to 10% of the final tally, and a panel of experts.

At the end of the season, the nine monthly winners are put forward for the Premier League Goal of the Season, which is chosen using the same method, although the 2016–17 award featured, and indeed was won by, a goal from May which did not go to a vote.

Salah & Mac Allister Deservedly up for PFA Players Player of the Year Award

Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah have been shortlisted for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.

The Liverpool duo have been voted by their peers as being among the six best performers in English football during last season. Also in the running for the prestigious honour are Bruno Fernandes, Alexander Isak, Cole Palmer and Declan Rice.

Mac Allister played in 35 of 38 Premier League games and was a model of consistent excellence as the Reds won the title by a margin of 10 points.

The Argentina midfielder was named the division’s Player of the Month for April and ended the top-flight campaign having recorded five goals and five assists.

Salah, meanwhile, produced one of the greatest individual seasons in Premier League history.

The No.11 registered a record-equalling 47 goal involvements – 29 goals and 18 assists, totals that earned him the Golden Boot and Playmaker accolades – while starting all 38 of the champions’ matches.

Salah was duly recognised with the Premier League Player of the Season and Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year prizes and could now become the first man to be named PFA Players’ Player of the Year for a third time after his successes in 2018 and 2022.

The winner of this year’s award will be announced at a PFA ceremony in Manchester on Tuesday August 19.

The Premier League Playmaker of the Season is an annual English football award, presented to the player who has made the most assists (the last pass made before a goal scored) in the Premier League.

Mac Allister Is The April Premier League Player of the Month Winner

Alexis Mac Allister is the Premier League Player of the Month for April 2025, winning the award for the first time.

Mac Allister scored twice and registered one assist in five matches for Liverpool last month, helping the club seal their second Premier League title.

It is the first time a player from Argentina has received the Player of the Month accolade since January 2020, when Sergio Aguero won it with Manchester City. Overall, Mac Allister becomes only the fourth Argentinian to claim the prize.

The 26-year-old's first goal involvement of the month came with a brilliant long-range strike in a 3-2 loss at Fulham.

In the following match, Mac Allister’s corner set up Virgil van Dijk to head a vital late winner against West Ham United, and the Argentinian ended the month by giving Liverpool the lead in the 5-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur that confirmed the Reds as champions.

Mac Allister topped an eight-man shortlist after the public's votes on the EA SPORTS website were combined with those of a panel of football experts.

He is the second Liverpool player to win the award this season, after Mohamed Salah, who won it in November 2024 and again in February 2025.

Mac Allister could make it an April awards double, given his goal against Fulham is nominated for the Guinness Goal of the Month award. The winner of this prize will be revealed at 13:00 BST.

Mohamed Salah Deservedly Wins Football Writers Player of the Year

Mohamed Salah has been named the 2025 Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year.

The Egyptian receives the prize for a joint-record third time, having also been awarded it in 2018 and 2022, equalling Thierry Henry.

Salah took a remarkable 90 per cent of all votes cast from the 918 members eligible, winning by the biggest margin this century.

Teammate Virgil van Dijk came second in the polling, with Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak and Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice completing the top four respectively. Fifteen other players received votes outside of the leading quartet.

FWA chair John Cross said: “Rarely has there been a more popular winner than Mo. His overwhelming victory is just a reflection of an incredible season.

“He continues to rewrite the record books and his performances this season have obviously been key to Liverpool’s 20th title.

“It’s been a privilege watching him this season and it will be a privilege to welcome him to our dinner to celebrate his success.”

Salah has been in scintillating form throughout 2024-25, helping Liverpool surge to the Premier League title.

To date, he has delivered 33 goals and 23 assists in just 49 appearances across all competitions.

The No.11 again leads the race for the Premier League’s Golden Boot with 28 strikes, while his 18 assists also have him on course to land the Playmaker accolade.

Salah, who will collect the award at a gala dinner later this month, moves ahead of Anfield legends Sir Kenny Dalglish and John Barnes in terms of number of wins of the FWA prize, both of whom achieved it on two occasions while at the club.
