Liverpool FC Club Captains

Since the establishment of the club in 1892, 46 players have been club captain of Liverpool F.C.

Andrew Hannah became the first captain of the club after Liverpool separated from Everton and formed its own club.

Alex Raisbeck, who was club captain from 1899 to 1909, was the longest serving captain before being overtaken by Steven Gerrard who served 12 seasons starting from the 2003–04 season.

The present captain is Virgil van Dijk, who has served since the 2023–24 season.
