Jordan Henderson Bio
Jordan Henderson led Liverpool to Premier League, Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup glory as the captain of Jürgen Klopp’s champion team.
A relentless and inspirational presence, the midfielder lifted those four major trophies in his trademark 'Hendo shuffle' fashion in the space of a little under 14 months to cement his legacy as a legendary Reds skipper.
Having joined Emlyn Hughes, Phil Thompson, Graeme Souness and Steven Gerrard on the illustrious list of Liverpool’s European Cup-winning captains in June 2019, Henderson went from strength to strength in 2019-20.
A hugely influential figure as Klopp’s side ended a 30-year wait for domestic supremacy and became the first Liverpool team to be crowned world champions, Henderson’s individual endeavours both on and off the pitch were recognised as he was named the Football Writers’ Association’s Footballer of the Year.
Henderson joined Liverpool from Sunderland in the summer of 2011 and his standing at Anfield was underlined when he became the club’s vice-captain in September 2014, before he then took the armband on a permanent basis in July 2015 following Gerrard’s departure.
During the historic 2019-20 season, Henderson passed the 350-appearance mark for the club and, in January 2021, he climbed up to fourth place in Liverpool's Premier League appearance list - behind only Jamie Carragher, Gerrard and Sami Hyypia.
In August 2021, it was announced that Henderson's association with the club would continue further when he signed a new long-term contract.
During the 2021-2022 season Jordan went on to lead Liverpool to success in the League & FA Cup making him the 1st Liverpool player to lift all six trophies as Liverpool captain.
In the summer of 2023 Jordan agreed a deal with Saudi Pro League side Al Ettifaq costing the Saudi side £12,000,000 who are managed by Steven Gerrard
