Alex Oxlade-Chambelrain Bio
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain joined Liverpool from Arsenal on the final day of the 2017 summer transfer window.
The England international is a product of Southampton’s renowned youth academy, having joined the Saints at the age of seven.
A rapid ascent through the St Mary’s ranks led to Oxlade-Chamberlain making his first-team debut at the age of 16 in March 2010 and, in the following season, he was a regular in a side that won promotion to the Championship.
With a record of nine goals in 34 appearances and a place in the PFA League One Team of the Year at just 17, it was inevitable that Oxlade-Chamberlain was destined for greater things than English football’s second tier.
Arsenal came calling and, after moving to Emirates Stadium in August 2011, Oxlade-Chamberlain made 26 appearances in his first season with the Gunners.
England boss Roy Hodgson was suitably impressed and included the 18-year-old in his squad for Euro 2012.
Shortly before the tournament, Oxlade-Chamberlain capped a remarkable rise from making his senior club debut to becoming a full England international in the space of just 26 months when he played against Norway in Oslo.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has gone on to become a regular fixture in the England set-up.
His time at Arsenal saw him make 198 appearances and score 20 goals, with his final game in the London club’s colours ironically coming against Liverpool at Anfield.
Now, he adds further depth and versatility to Jürgen Klopp’s squad as the Reds aim to continue an upward trajectory in the Premier League and Champions League this term.
On 17 May 2023, Liverpool announced that Oxlade-Chamberlain would leave the club at the end of the season upon the expiry of his contract.
