Fabio Carvalho Bio

Fabio Carvalho was born in Lisbon, but represents England at youth level as he is now eligible after living in the United Kingdom for an extended period.

In May 2020, he signed his first professional contract with Fulham, and in the 2020/21 season he made his debut in a League Cup victory against Sheffield Wednesday.

A year after signing his first pro deal, he made his Premier League debut against Chelsea and a couple of weeks later scored his first senior goal in the top flight in a loss against Southampton.

He impressed with Fulham in the 2021/22 season as they had a fine year in the Championship, scoring 11 goals and recording eight assists.

Carvalho has all the tools required to be a top performer in the number 10 position.

He is particularly talented at receiving the ball to feet in midfield with his back to goal and spinning quickly to face the other way, allowing him to drive forward into the final third.

His close control is magnificent and that allows him to play in tight spaces inside the box, too.

Carvalho's runs in behind the opposition backline evoke memories of early Dele Alli.

Following his goal against Southampton last season, then manager Scott Parker said:

Carvalho is a big positive.

Massive positive for us because he's the one who's going to be here, he's a player that is really bright and can bring something to this team and you saw that today.

We've seen his quality today, we've seen him scoring and assisting at an under-23 level but now he's been around first-team players, he's pushed on and done that as well.

I don't want to heap too much on Fabio because he's still a young boy but the future's bright for him and he's someone that I really like."

He was set to move to Liverpool in the January transfer window, but it never materialised.

The Daily Mail reported thatReal Madrid were keeping a keen eye on Carvalho's development.

As many as 10 Premier League sides were supposedly interested also.

But it is Liverpool who have won the race to sign Carvalho.

Carvalho turned down the offer of an extended deal.

Liverpool were quick to wrap up their business, though, and have confirmed the signing as soon as the 2021/22 Premier League campaign ended, keeping an eye on the future.

The player signed for a £5 million deal plus £2.7 million in add-ons

Carvalho was sold to Brentford in the summer of 2024 in a deal worth £27.5 million.

Fabio Carvalho completes a permanent transfer to Brentford.

Fabio Carvalho has completed a permanent transfer to Brentford.

The attacker finalised his switch to the Bees today, bringing an end to his two-year spell as a Liverpool player.

Carvalho joined the Reds in July 2022 from Fulham and would go on to score three times in his 21 competitive appearances.

The 21-year-old made his debut for the club by appearing as a substitute in the 2022 FA Community Shield victory over Manchester City.

He opened his goalscoring account the following month in the 9-0 defeat of AFC Bournemouth at Anfield and then netted a 98th-minute winner against Newcastle United four days later.

Carvalho spent time out on loan at RB Leipzig and Hull City in 2023-24, before returning to Liverpool this summer to feature regularly in pre-season.

He will now embark on a new chapter in his career with Thomas Frank's Brentford, who begin their Premier League campaign on Sunday versus Crystal Palace.

Everyone at LFC would like to wish Fabio the very best of luck for the future.

Liverpool have agreed a deal to sell midfielder Fabio Carvalho

Liverpool have agreed a deal to sell midfielder Fabio Carvalho to Brentford for around £20m, reports have revealed.

After struggling on loan with RB Leipzig in the first half of last season, Carvalho dazzled with nine goals in 20 games with Hull City in the Championship and maintained that momentum with strikes against Arsenal and Manchester United in pre-season.

A £15m bid from Southampton was rejected earlier this summer, but A Bola news site were the first to report that an agreement had been reached to sell Carvalho to Brentford.

The news was quickly backed up by Fabrizio "Here We Go" Romano, who adds that Brentford will pay an initial £20m to sign Carvalho. A handful of add-ons could take the overall sum as high as £27.5m in the future, while a 17.5% sell-on clause has also been included.

Former club Fulham will also receive 17.5% of any profit above £5m.

A five-year contract is on the table for Carvalho, who is set to undergo a medical with Brentford ahead of putting pen to paper.

Reports had claimed new Liverpool boss Arne Slot had been impressed by Carvalho's performances during the summer, but a significant role this year was always going to be hard for the 21-year-old to command.

The Reds are well-stocked in both midfield and attack, with the returns of international stars like Alexis Mac Allister set to limit Carvalho's minutes if he remained.

Liverpool reject Southampton offer for Carvalho

Liverpool have rejected an offer worth about £15m from Southampton for Fabio Carvalho.

It is believed Southampton have had a long-standing interest in the 21-year-old forward, but their bid falls significantly short of what the Reds would want to sanction a permanent move.

Carvalho has impressed during Liverpool’s pre-season tour in the United States, having scored in wins against Arsenal and Manchester United.

However, he may find first-team opportunities limited when the rest of the Premier League club’s players, including forwards Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo, return from extended breaks after the Copa America and Euro 2024.

Other clubs have also expressed an interest in Carvalho, who spent last season on loan at RB Leipzig and Hull City.

He scored nine goals in 20 games for the Tigers and another loan move would be considered a last resort.
